Dr. Hernandez has been the Curaor of Lepidoptera and Insects and also the head of the Research Department at the Museo Nacional de Historia Natura in Havana, Cuba. A resident of Puerto Rico since 1996, he has worked as a biology - entomology professor and lepidopterist curator in several Puerto Rican Universities. He now brings to us his expertise in circumcarribean butterfly identification with his recently published guide to the butterflies of Cuba and the West Indies.

This Field Guide provides data on the composition of the butterfly fauna of the Cuban Archipelago with the most recent informations about distributions, synonyms, description of the early stages of each species, host plant, new records, habitats, range, sexual dimorphism, seasonal differences, colour varieties, field marks and other biological aspects. Includes also a biological table with the ecological and field observations about all the West Indies butterflies species and subspecies. The thirty one accurate butterfly color plates drawings are based on fresh specimens.
